Atlanta Hawks Send Forward to Free Agency With Contract Decision

The Atlanta Hawks are declining Jonathan Kuminga's $24.3 million player option for the 2026-27 NBA season, according to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania.

With this move, Kuminga becomes a free agent as he prepares for his sixth NBA season.

Kuminga, a 2021 No.

7 overall draft pick for the Golden State Warriors, will turn 24 years old before the 2026-27 NBA season.

He was ultimately dealt to Atlanta in a midseason trade following an arduous contract battle with the Warriors last summer.

Through 16 regular-season games in his short career with the Hawks, Kuminga averaged 12.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per contest.
