Area youth sports camps in full swing Published 2:13 pm Tuesday, June 23, 2026 As summertime continues in Milledgeville, local students have several opportunities to stay active, build athletic skills and learn from experienced coaches and professional athletes through a variety of camps and training programs.

From football camps featuring NFL players to basketball clinics and multi-sport activities, programs are available for children and teens of various ages throughout June and July.

Young football players will have the opportunity to learn from current NFL athletes during the Bud Dupree, Tylan Grable and Ashton Grable Youth Football Camp on July 11 at Wilkinson County High School.

The camp will feature Buffalo Bills offensive linemen Tylan and Ashton Grable along with Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Bud Dupree.

The event is free to attend, although participants are required to wear cleats.

Kindergarten through fifth-grade participants will attend from 9 to 10:30 a.m., while students in sixth through 12th grades will participate from 10:30 a.m.

Another football opportunity will be offered through the Jalon and Gerald Kilgore Football Camp on July 11 from 10 a.m.

to 1 p.m.

It will be led by Buffalo Bills defensive back Jalon Kilgore and his brother, Gerald Kilgore, a defensive back at the University of South Carolina.

They return to their hometown to teach football skills at their former high school, Putnam County High School.

Boys and girls between ages 6-17 are welcome to attend and the event is free to attend.

While football camps offer instruction from professional athletes, several basketball programs also are available for local students this summer.

Oak Hill Middle School will host summer basketball workouts for upcoming fifth-, sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students.

Workouts will be held from 3 to 5 p.m.

on June 23, June 25 and June 30.

Georgia College & State University also will offer a youth basketball camp from June 29 through July 3 at the Wellness and Recreation Center.

The camp is open to children ages 5-12 and will run from 8 a.m.

to 4 p.m.

Catrina Green, head womens basketball coach at Georgia College will lead the camp.

Campers will focus on skill development through dribbling, shooting and passing drills.

Tennis shoes are required.

The cost of the camp is $199.

Georgia Military College Prep School will host basketball camps for its middle school students at Cordell Gym.

The girls basketball camp is scheduled for June 22-26 and is open to rising sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students.

Sessions will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.

The boys basketball camp will take place June 23-24 for rising sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students from 4 to 6 p.m.

The cost for each GMC Prep basketball camp is $50.

Participants must be accepted and registered at GMC for the 26-27 school year.

Children interested in trying a variety of sports can participate in Georgia Colleges Sports Frenzy Week, scheduled for June 22-26 at the Wellness and Recreation Center.

The camp is open to children ages 5-12 and runs from 8 a.m.

to 4 p.m.

Hunter Payne, Georgia Colleges coordinator of intramurals and club sports, will lead the program.

Participants should bring tennis shoes, a water bottle, towel, bug spray and sunscreen.

Campers will take part in a variety of games, challenges and friendly competitions throughout the week.

Each day will feature a different intramural sport, including dodgeball, wiffleball and flag football.

Georgia College will also be hosting a two-day baton twirling clinic from July 11-12.

Participants will learn fundamental baton skills along with choreography.

Campers will learn from former University of Georgia majorette, Melody Lundstrom.

Ages 5-10 are welcome as the clinic will be at Georgia Colleges Centennial Center.

The clinic will cost $50.
