The Minnesota Vikings are in a difficult position with the future of their defense, and its getting more difficult by the day.
Going into the offseason, the Minnesota Vikings had a few contracts they needed to address.
From wide receiver Jordan Addison to right tackle Brian ONeill, they have some serious discussions to have.
One underrated player that deserves an extension is defensive tackle Jalen Redmond.
Hes entering year three with the Vikings, and hes eligible for an extension.
Unlike players who are drafted, undrafted free agents are extension-eligible after two full seasons.
They havent done it yet, and even though they have two years of team control left, finding a way to get it done would behoove the Vikings, especially with his success in Brian Flores defense.
Redmonds extension is going to be expensive , and it keeps getting more expensive by the week.
Monday afternoon brought another defensive lineman extension, with the Green Bay Packers giving Devonte Wyatt a three-year deal worth $57 million.

A big-time payday.

Thats not too bad for a player whos been pretty solid, but has taken a decent step back since a really good 2023.
His 2023 season was more productive than Redmonds in 2025, but the other years Redmond easily performed better, who had 35 pressures and 6.5 sacks in 2025.
Wyatts contract is honestly a good comp as they have similar production profiles.
I had initially projected Redmonds extension at three years and $48 million with $23 million fully guaranteed.
With Wyatt getting this contract, he will be more likely to get a bigger deal.
Something along the lines of $20-22 million makes a lot of sense for Redmond at this point, but there is a lot of variance with what the Vikings will potentially offer.
One of those variables is Redmond.
Will he want to sign an extension right now, or wait for another good season to get more money potentially? Its a conundrum for both parties, something they dealt with when trying to extend Justin Jefferson in 2023.
The longer the Vikings wait, the more expensive Redmond gets, and that could be exactly what he wants.
