While the National League Championship Series wrapped up with a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers, the American League Championship Series is guaranteed to extend to at least six games. Following a rainout on Friday, the Tampa Bay Rays unleashed their most potent offensive attack of the postseason—including their ALDS sweep of the New York Yankees—against the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday.
The Rays' 7-3 triumph tied the ALCS at two games apiece and assured that regardless of Sunday's outcome, a Game 6 will be played at Tropicana Field on Monday. By then, one team will have earned the right to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series, though a decisive Game 7 remains a distinct possibility.
Fans are encouraged to exhaust themselves—or at least demand more thrilling baseball than Saturday's contest provided. Today's site coverage includes Madison's recap of ALCS Game 4, Peter's explanation for why he's backing the Brewers in the World Series regardless of the AL representative, and Matt's tribute to Andy Carey, a key role player on the 1950s Yankees dynasty, on what would have been his 95th birthday.
