Talking season is here and will continue next week with ACC media days holding court.
Beat writers and other members of the media will have many questions, and the story lines abound in the conference.
Coming off a 5-7 season in 2025, here are four bold predictions for the Florida State Seminoles football program in 2026.
The Seminoles unexpectedly win on the road Florida State started the 2025 season off with a bang by winning their first three games, including an upset of the Alabama Crimson Tide 31-17 in Tallahassee.
The 2026 schedule is brutal, with games against SMU at home and the return game against Alabama in Tuscaloosa within the month of September.
The Crimson Tide, a playoff team in 2025, returns just three starters on offense.
Specifically, they are projected to start a new signal-caller in freshman Keelon Russell.
The timing of this game could be in the Seminoles favor as they catch Alabama early in the season rather than later where Russell has limited game experience to use against Florida State.
If there was ever a game the Seminoles are not expected to win, this would be it.
Florida States rushing attack continues to shine Last season, the Seminoles ranked just outside the top ten nationally (No.11) in rushing offense, gaining 218 yards per game and scoring 31 rushing touchdowns.
Fans should look for that to continue.
Yes, there is no Gus Malzahn this season.
But the Seminoles bring in former Texas running back Quintrevion Wisner to bolster an already talented running back room.
Ousmane Kromah and Samuel Singleton also return.
Singleton averaged seven yards per carry in 2025.
They will all run behind an experienced but rebuilt offensive line.
Right guard Nate Pabst, an all-MAC performer from Bowling Green, and Xavier Chaplin both have NFL talent.
Quarterback change by mid-season Norvell named Ashton Daniels his starting quarterback after 15 practices in the spring.
The well-traveled Daniels ( Stanford , then Auburn ) has had issues with ball security during his collegiate career, with 22 career interceptions over four seasons vs.
24 touchdowns.
In 2024 at Stanford, Daniels threw more interceptions (12) than touchdowns (10).
Look for a quarterback change at mid-season.
One candidate to replace Damiels is JUCO All-American quarterback Malachi Marshall.
Marshall led his Iowa Western Community College team to a NJCAA championship in 2025, throwing for over 2,800 yards, 33 touchdowns and only eight interceptions.
He completed 63 percent of his passes with 201 completions.
Marshalls passer efficiency rating for the 2025 season was 179.1.
Norvell will be hard-pressed to ignore that kind of talent and production, and look for Marshall to remind Norvell of that fact.
Eight wins, but Norvell does not survive Last season, Florida State lost seven games, four of which were by eight points or fewer.
As a new season dawns, the experts predict the Seminoles win total in 2026 to be 6.5.
Look for Florida State to overachieve just a bit and win eight games this season, with losses coming at the hands of SMU, Louisville, Miami and Florida.
However, Norvell has coached his last season in Tallahassee.
Coming off 17 losses over the past two seasons is too much for Norvell to overcome and will be shown the door as the athletic administration seeks to go in a different coaching direction.
The 2026 season will be a critical one for the Seminoles as they look to get back to playing winning Florida State football.
