MLB announces details for All-Star Week in Seattle

SEATTLE — The Mariners officially previewed the season Wednesday with a two-hour media session at T-Mobile Park. The club also provided Major League Baseball with the opportunity to share details of his 2023 All-Star Game, presented by Mastercard. Held in Seattle.

“One of the biggest changes we’ve seen since the 2001 All-Star Game is that it’s actually become a week-long agenda,” Malinak said. “There’s activity scattered over six or seven days, not just over the weekend, not just Tuesday’s game, but many other events.”

The first event will bring together baseball student-athletes from the Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Division I program. The name aptly recognizes Mariners icon Ken Griffey Jr. Continuing the legacy of the HBCU Baseball program while providing 50 of his HBCU Baseball players the opportunity to showcase their talent on the national stage. Student-athletes are selected by a committee that includes Griffey and his MLB and his MLBPA representatives.

The draft has been shifted one month forward and will be held in conjunction with the Midsummer Classic starting in 2021, allowing the public to attend in person. The first round, which will feature some of the selected players, will take place in the afternoon and evening, but the venue will not be decided for several weeks.
