The Dodgers announced their 2023 coaching staff this afternoon (link via Dodger Insider). The biggest news is that Danny Lehman has been hired as his coach on the bench. For the first time he served as his assistant to his top Roberts Dave.

Lehman, 37, is a graduate of Rice University. He spent some time in the Twins’ minor league system, reaching Triple-A for part of four seasons. After a seven-year professional playing career, he transitioned to executive work by 2015. He was initially hired by the Dodgers as a scout, and worked his way up to become a game planning/communications coach for Roberts’ staff. He has held the position for four of his last five years, and in 2019 he was a special assistant in the office.

He will replace Bob Gullen in that role. Geren has been his coach on the LA bench for the last seven years. He will remain on the major league staff, but will vacate his bench coaching position.

The rest of the Los Angeles staff had previously been reported. Mark Pryor will return as his pitching coach, while Robert Van Scoyock and Aaron Bates will share the role of hitting coaches. Josh Byrd will return as bullpen coach, while Clayton McCullough and Dino Ebell will serve as bass coaches. Conor McGuinness is back as Prior’s assistant pitching coach. There are no new hires to fill Lehman’s previous role.
