Brandin Cooks has seen three different head coaches in his three years with the Houston Texans. He has no plans to see a fourth.
A day after a tough season for the Cooks and the Texans, the six-time 1,000-yard receiver reiterated his desire to be traded out of Houston. Cooks hoped to be traded by the Texans before the trade deadline, but Houston was unable to find a trading partner due to the high asking price.
“I don’t think it’s part of the rebuild, but it looks like it,” Cooks said via ESPN. “That’s why I believe my camp and agents can get a map from here to there and see what it looks like to be part of something that has a reliable plan.”

After back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in which quarterbacks were erratic, Cooks had 699 yards on 57 catches and three touchdowns. These were Cooks’ lowest totals since his 2019 season, the year before he was traded to Houston.
Cooks had been frustrated with the organization after missing a game for personal reasons and not being addressed by the deadline. I signed a dollar deal. A cook’s base salary will be $18 million in 2023 and $13 million in 2024.
Entering his 30-year-old season, Cooks hopes for an opportunity to compete. Cooks has only won 11 while Cooks has started five different quarterbacks since his arrival. With the free agency wide receiver market weak, Cooks is likely to be in high demand for teams looking to get top wideouts for young quarterbacks.
After all, Houston may receive its steep asking price.
