Jan. 16 — Derek Parsons scored 29 points, including 6-for-6 from the fourth quarter free-throw line, as York’s men’s basketball team beat Kennebunk 72-66 on Monday at Kennebunk.
Parsons finished with six 3-pointers. He is five in the first half while helping York build his 37-27 lead.
Haydn Forbes added 16 points and 12 rebounds while Gavin Davis scored 12 for York (6-4).
Theo Pow leads Kennebunk (6-5) with 24 points. Jacob Morris is 13.
women’s basketball
YORK 44, KENNEBUNK 35: Nya Avery scored 13 points as the Wildcats (3-7) recovered from an early deficit to beat Kennebunk (2-9) in York.
The Rams led 16-12 after the first quarter before pulling away in the second half as York took a 17-10 29-26 halftime lead.
McKayla Cortez added nine points for York. Ruby Sliwkowski scored her 11 and Cassie Mackenzie scored her 8 on Kennebunk.

Talbot also scored a power play goal in the second period. Marina Friedman opened the scoring in the second half of the first.
