Yankees announced on sunday reached an agreement on a one-year contract with graver torres, to avoid salary arbitration. MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand report The deal is valued at $9.95 million, right in between the $10.2 million requested by Torres and the $9.7 million offered by New York when arbitration figures were exchanged earlier this winter.
With $6.25 million in 2022 (second year of arbitration eligibility), Torres bounced back from a power standpoint with 24 homers and 76 RBIs in 140 regular-season games for the AL East champions. He had only hit nine total home runs in his 127 games played in 2021. Torres generally looked a little more comfortable last year following a more permanent move from shortstop to second base. There are a few things to do. 331 in 2021, .356 in 2020, .337 in 2019 and .340 in his 2018 rookie year.

He just turned 26 and is currently under the Yankees’ custody throughout the 2024 campaign. They certainly hope he can take over as a hard-hitting rebound in 2023, but they’re hoping he’ll return to overall form as a worthy addition to the top of the lineup.
Most of the expected roster prospects are Torres hitting leadoff for the Yanks this season, Aaron Judge, Anthony Rizzo, Giancarlo Stanton, Josh Donaldson, Harrison Bader, Aaron Hicks, Oswald Peraza When Jose TrevinoIts lineup remained largely unchanged over the winter, finishing second in scoring among all 30 MLB teams last year, behind only the Dodgers. His OPS for the entire team was .751 and he ranked fourth as the Bronx Bombers won his 99th.
Of course, Torres won’t necessarily join the 2023 line-up. The Yankees are known to have considered the possibility of trading an infielder this winter. Isaiah Kiner Falefa While it may be the team’s preferred trade chip, Torres is also a candidate to be moved for decent returns. The Marlins bid and made an offer for Torres at the trade deadline. Pablo Lopez When Miguel Rojas He headed for New York in exchange for Torres and Peraza, but the bomber rejected the offer.
