In his last seven Pro rounds, his scores totaled 50 under par, the Spaniard&#8217;s winning the very event in 2018. He is a former US Open champion and currently ranked No. 4 in the world. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-b not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-0\"\/>\n<p>Meanwhile, Davis Thompson is making his seventh appearance as a full PGA Tour member.  After the 2022 season, he graduated from the PGA Tour&#8217;s development circuit, the Korn Ferry Tour. Thompson is a 23-year-old University of Georgia graduate who is realizing his dream of becoming a professional golfer. In Lahi Quinta, his game is tailored exactly the way he wants it.<\/p>\n<p>Rahm started the day two shots behind but took the lead at 7-under 65. <\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard may have an advantage over Thompson in terms of experience, but that doesn&#8217;t mean he disrespects his opponents. Rahm said he wouldn&#8217;t be surprised if the 23-year-old hit a few more birdies before he left the track on Saturday. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-b not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-1\"\/>\n<p>&#8220;Yeah, I&#8217;ll be surprised if I tee off tomorrow with a tie for the lead or a tie for the lead,&#8221; said Rahm.  &#8220;I&#8217;m pretty sure he&#8217;s going to get a couple because of the way Davis has played, and I&#8217;m probably going back to a couple.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-b not-size-c\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-0\"\/>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-b not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-0\"\/>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-0\"\/>\n<p>For Lahm, having his &#8216;A&#8217; game means he&#8217;s playing practically perfect golf, and he&#8217;s not far from that, but there are a few things he&#8217;s left out there. I pointed out the shot of<\/p>\n<p>When asked how much room for improvement Lahm had in recent matches, the Spaniard decisively replied &#8220;a lot&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>11 could have done better with short putts on 13, 14, 15, 16 and 17. It&#8217;s six shots that aren&#8217;t there,&#8221; Rahm said. <\/p>\n<p>Whether or not Rahm finds an &#8216;A&#8217; game tomorrow, he&#8217;s going to be tough to beat, and Thompson knows that all too well. <\/p>\n<p>But instead of threatening underdog status, Thompson is using it as fuel. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m going up against Jon Rahm. I feel like everyone picks me as the underdog,&#8221; Thompson said.
