On Thursday, gaming regulators found that all six potential mobile sports betting operators are not connected to brick-and-mortar gambling centers and are provisionally eligible for temporary licenses.<\/p>\n

After approximately two weeks of review and consideration of the application, the Gaming Commission announced that Bally’s Interactive, Betfair Interactive US (d\/b\/a FanDuel), Betr Holdings, Crown MA Gaming (DraftKings), Digital Gaming Corporation USA, and PointsBet Massachusetts to formally request. provisional license. The committee unanimously found 5 out of 6 applications suitable and voted 4 to 1 on the suitability of Betr.<\/p>\n

\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tState regulators unanimously voted Monday to grant MGM Springfield the second face-to-face sports betting license in Massachusetts.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

Face-to-face betting will begin January 31st at three so-called Category 1 licensed properties: Plainridge Park Casino in Plainville, MGM Springfield and Encore Boston Harbor.<\/p>\n

Mobile betting will follow in early March.<\/p>\n

In addition to the six applicants approved on Thursday, the Gambling Commission has found five operators linked to one of the category 1 licensees provisionally eligible to conduct mobile betting: WynnBet, Caesars, BetMGM, Penn Sports Interactive \/Barstool Sportsbook, Fanatics Betting & Gaming.<\/p>\n

\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tPeople are expected to be able to bet directly on sports by late January, with online betting not allowed until March.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

Massachusetts’ sports betting law allows the commission to award up to seven untethered mobile betting licenses, but initial reports suggest the regulator could be swamped with a huge number of applications. Despite concerns, only the six licensed operators applied Thursday. The law also qualifies racetracks and simulcast centers to apply for in-person betting licenses, but the commission heard late last year that the state’s simulcast centers were not ready to start betting. process has not yet started.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
