Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens have felt like they’ve been hardballing each other this season.<\/p>\n
Jackson’s knee injury ultimately cost him more time than originally expected in the remainder of the regular season and Baltimore’s only playoff game, with the quarterback proceeding cautiously due to the lack of a long-term contract. And Ravens head coach John Harbaugh praises backup Tyler Huntley for playing injury in Baltimore’s wild card loss to the Cincinnati Bengals This did little to quell those murmurs, and even fed the beasts.<\/p>\n
Who is responsible for the drama stemming from the two teams’ failure to reach a long-term deal before the 2022 season? Of course, it depends on who you ask. But it’s definitely worth noting that Harbaugh didn’t go further to defend Jackson from outside skepticism.<\/p>\n
“Unless your last name is Harbaugh, that’s absolutely how things are done, right?” another NFL team executive recently told Mike Sando of The Athletic. “That’s what he and his brother (Jim) do, and there’s another guy who handles that kind of business. He wears a sweatshirt and hoodie with cut-off arms and he ‘s name is Bill Belichick.”<\/p>\n Bringing Patriots head coach Bill Belichick into the conversation obviously doesn’t mean much other than adding context to Harbaugh’s novel handling of the situation. What if it continues? So what will the Ravens do with an All-Pro quarterback?<\/p>\n Perhaps Jackson (who has no agent) and the Ravens will return to the negotiating table in hopes of finding common ground. You can (likely) tag a franchise or even trade the 2019 MVP.<\/p>\n With Jackson’s ability and age (26) QBs rarely available, this will definitely be a story to watch as long as clouds of uncertainty hang over Baltimore.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
