According to multiple reports, Boston signed the veteran outfielder to a minor league deal. Tapia first broke the news on his own Instagram, reported by Jon Heyman of the New York Post. Minor League Deal News<\/a>and Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com confirmed the news.<\/p>\n The Sox know the soon-to-be 29-year-old well, having spent the 2022 season with the Toronto Blue Jays. He appeared in his 128 games with the Jays, batting . It was his first season of Tapia’s career outside the Colorado Rockies, and he spent part of six seasons.<\/p>\n Tapia’s best season was the 2020 campaign, which was cut short by the pandemic. 321 and a career-high .772 OPS in his 51 games with Colorado. Since becoming a major league regular in 2019, he has appeared in his 450 games, averaging 8 homers, 59 RBIs, 16 stolen bases and a .277 batting average in 162 games.<\/p>\n At this time, it’s unclear how he fits into Boston’s plans for 2023. A reported deal with Adam Duvall appears to have bolstered the Red Sox’ starting outfielder, with Boston set to return in November.
