Heyman also said the Marlins could be an attractive destination for Chapman, who lives in South Florida.

After making his seventh career All-Star appearance in 2021, Chapman struggled last season with the Yankees. Chapman played in 43 games with the Yankees, his second-lowest number of games at the club, but in the bullpen he went 4-4 and his ERA ballooned to 4.46 to 36. In 1/3 innings he had only 9 saves. Chapman’s nine-inning average of 6.9 walks was his best since 2011.

Chapman, who spent more than six seasons with the Yankees, fell out of favor in New York after an off-field incident last season. Chapman was on the injured list due to a persistent infection from a tattoo he got.

After finishing the 2022 season with a 69-93 record, Chapman will soon be upgraded in the Marlins’ bullpen, which has already signed former Philadelphia Phillies infielder Gene Segura.

If Chapman does end up signing with the Marlins, the Yankees won’t be sad to see him officially leave.

[ad_2]

Source link

[ad_1] The New York Yankees’ removal of Aroldis Chapman from the American League Division Series roster last October signaled the flamethrower’s tenure in the organization

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[21

post-8571","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-mlb","two-columns
["GET
