The Los Amigos youth soccer team have never had a more connected performance, but they continued to battle their nemesis unless the Lobos yielded.<\/p>\n

When the opportunity presented itself, Lobos did not miss it.<\/p>\n

Hervey Ram\u00edrez scored with two minutes remaining as Los Amigos beat Santiago 1-0 to take the lead in the Garden Grove League on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Los Amigos (8-2-1, 3-0 in the Garden Grove League) were put under pressure by Santiago (11-5-3), who had more chances throughout the contest. The Cavaliers continued to hold their territory advantage into overtime, but the Lobos attacked after defending a corner kick.<\/p>\n

An outnumbered attack saw Ram\u00edrez trail the play and win the ball with time and space to shoot. His right foot shot beat diving Eduardo Estrada.<\/p>\n

“We all sat there like we were wearing ties, but we wanted more, so we brought everything we had in overtime,” Ramirez said. Our defense held it up, which was good for us.”<\/p>\n

Los Amigos coach Jes\u00fas Lazo said he felt “a relief” when the ball came in.<\/p>\n

“History is here with Santiago and every year it’s between us and them with a league win,” Lazo said. I always cross the road.”<\/p>\n

Junior midfielders Jair Vargas and Bryant Pineda produced some excellent combinations to help the Cavs get deep into the attacking third. There were several chances for Armando Galv\u00e1n to shoot from dangerous positions.<\/p>\n

In the 24th minute, Vargas broke through the left wing defense and dribbled into the box. He crossed the goal mouth of Galv\u00e1n who shot as the ball arrived. Lobos goalkeeper Jorge S\u00e1nchez made a close stop and Christian Franco cleared the rebound.<\/p>\n

Galv\u00e1n was again in trouble in stoppage time at the end of regulation, but his shot went wide of the right post.<\/p>\n

Santiago coach Carlos Ben\u00edtez Cruz said, “Their good counters. We controlled the whole game. We got clear shots. They had one or two towards the end.” You have to maintain your focus throughout the game.Finally, it might not have been wise to push the corner kick forward.We wanted to win so we kept sending people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Los Amigos did not score their first shot on target until the 75th minute when Horacio Teliquez bounced a bid into Estrada’s arm.<\/p>\n

It was Sanchez who withstood the aggressive Dry spell, with Adrian Ramirez, Christopher Santos, Levy Garcia and Franco defending in front of him making five saves.<\/p>\n

“They definitely had us working in the first half,” Sanchez said. \u201cThey kept us under pressure. There were so many chances they scored. The second half is when we really turned it around. We played faster. We started playing better overall.”<\/p>\n
