David Pasternak scored again Saturday night as the Boston Bruins beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 at TD Garden in one of the most exciting games of the 2022-23 NHL season.<\/p>\n
The superstar right wing currently has 33 goals, four ahead of Edmonton Oilers Center’s Conor McDavid in the race for the Rocket Richard Trophy. Pastranak has scored 59 goals (33 goals, 26 assists) in his 42 games, becoming the Bruins’ first 50-goal scorer since Cam Neely in 1993-94, and Phil his Esposito. He is on pace to become the team’s first 60-goal scorer since. 1974-75.<\/p>\n
But the main storyline involving Pastnak isn’t the first half of his historic season. It’s the fact that he hasn’t been signed beyond the current campaign.<\/p>\n
Any updates on the contract negotiations between the Pastnerk camp and the Bruins?<\/p>\n
Sportsnet’s Elliott Friedman said on “Canada’s Hockey Night” on Saturday night, “I want to be careful with this, but rumors in the league say the Bruins and Pasternack are making progress. “Don’t let that get out of control. But I just want to say, it looks like we’re seeing some progress in that negotiation. I still have some work to do.” I think, but Pastonak’s words on Saturday are progress.”<\/p>\n
Bruins general manager Don Sweeney told reporters Saturday night after announcing that the team had signed Pavel Zacha to a four-year, $19 million extension. Sweeney was asked if he had any updates on Pasternack’s situation. His answer was “no”.<\/p>\n

The Bruins’ top priority between now and July, aside from winning the Stanley Cup, of course, is re-signing Pasternack to a long-term deal. Boston can’t afford to lose someone with Pasternak’s ability on or off the ice.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
