With the first day of the playoffs behind us, there’s one final item to consider regarding the final weekend of the regular season.<\/p>\n

And the keyword is indeed business. Every successful business has constant pressure to increase revenue. However, at some point, there’s nowhere else to stuff cheese on a pizza crust.<\/p>\n

The NFL has many opportunities for continued growth. This relates to the final weekend of the regular season.<\/p>\n

An ongoing quest in recent years more<\/em> The league has deviated from its previous obsession of playing all final weekend games on the same day. That ended with last Saturday’s decision to offer (sell) a pair of games to ESPN.<\/p>\n

So why not hit the ground running for two days this final weekend of the year? Here’s an idea that was mentioned at last Saturday night’s NBC dinner. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense.<\/p>\n

Clear boundaries are a game within a particular meeting. All games in the final week of the season are divisional contests, so the league, for example, has 8 AFC games on Saturday and 8 NFC games on Sunday.<\/p>\n

To give all playoff teams a fair preparation for the wildcard round, Saturday’s two games will be played by the conference that played its last regular season game on Saturday.
