Dominica’s winter league final, featuring Tigres del Lisi and Estrellas Orientales, begins Friday night with Game 1.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
The Best of 7 Series will determine the LIDOM Champions representing the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean Series from February 2-10 in Caracas and La Guaira, Venezuela.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Here’s everything you need to know about the LIDOM Finals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
The series kicks off with Game 1 on Friday at 6:35 ET at the Estadio Quizqueya Juan Marichal in Santo Domingo, capital of Santo Domingo, home of the Tigres.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Game 2 is scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 ET at the Estadio Tetero Vargas in San Pedro de Macoris, home of Estrellas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
The two teams will alternate using their home sites on Mondays and Thursdays as off days for the remainder of the series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

It will be the fourth time in the circuit’s history and the first since 1980 that the Estrellas Orientales and Tigres del Licey will face off in the final. Estrella has won his three titles so far.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
The two teams advanced from the first round-robin playoff stage, consisting of the top four teams in the standings (six teams total), including Gigantes del Cibao and Aguilas Cibaenhas, to the final series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Under manager and former major leaguer Jose Offerman, the Tigres finished the regular season with a league-best record of 34-16 and tied with Estrelas in the round robin with a 10-6 record. Since the 2019-20 season, it has advanced to the final for the first time in 10 years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Managed by another former major leaguer, Fernando Tatis Sr., the Estrellas Orientales have reached the finals for the second year in a row and their third in the past five years. Estrellas was a regular in his season where he was 23-27 and ranked fourth in the rankings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Right-hander Cesar Valdez, who started nine games in Lissey’s regular season and went 6-0 with a 1.51 ERA and 37 strikeouts and was named LIDOM Pitcher of the Year, will take the ball in Game 1. The Angels organization went 2-1 with a 2.65 ERA and 20 strikeouts in the round-robin phase.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
He will face Estrellas left-hander Andy Otero. Otero posted a 3.71 ERA in four starts for Estrellas in the regular season and went 2-1 with a 1.00 ERA in four starts in the semifinals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
The Tigres announced that left-hander Raul Valdes would get the ball in game two and right-hander Esmil Rodgers would get the ball in game three.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Carlos Hern\u00e1ndez, who pitched for Toros del Este in the regular season and Aguilas in the semifinals, will start Game 2 for Estrellas. (At LIDOM, players from his two teams who are ineligible for the playoffs may be drafted by his postseason team for the round-robin and final round.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Who are the players to watch?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Lycy:<\/strong> In the playoffs, Laci’s offense was led by veteran Emilio Bonifacio, who batted .303\/.361\/.561 in 16 games with two home runs (including a grand slam) and 13 RBIs before advancing to the round-robin semifinals. was named the MVP of free agent catcher Jorge Alfaro had .383\/.471\/.633, 2 HRs and 9 RBIs in 16 games.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Lissie’s lineup also includes 21-year-old shortstop Ronnie Mauricio. He’s the #6 prospect in his MLB pipeline for the Mets. He was named the LIDOM MVP after his regular season Monsters led the league with 31 RBIs, 54 hits and a .468 batting average. Slugging percentage in 47 games. He also finished second in the league in 5 home runs, 26 runs scored, and . Mauricio batted . 279 with 6 RBIs in the round robin.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Estrellas:<\/strong> In the round-robin stage, the Estrelas lineup was led by Nationals third baseman Jaymar Candelario, who batted .424 with a 1.054 OPS in 16 games. Veteran second baseman Robinson Cano, who joined Estrellas for the playoffs, had a . 246 batting average and five RBIs in his 16 games in the semifinals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n Other names to watch: Infielder Lewin Diaz hit three home runs and scored 11 runs for Estrellas in the round robin. Henry Urrutia, who was the LIDOM regular season batting champion after posting a .318 batting average, joined the Estrellas as a reinforcement for the final series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n The game will be broadcast live on MLB.TV.
