Langford’s new boxing gym is set to fill the gap left by BC Boxing’s decision to back out of plans for a space in the city.<\/p>\n
Westshore Boxing Gym was run by Jason Haidt, who owned the gym downtown for five years from Club Phoenix on Langford Parkway. With the Eagle Ridge Community Center’s move to a new location in City Center Park, taking over the space previously used by BC Boxing, Haidt said he wanted to increase the gym’s floor space in hopes of training more athletes. said to have been greatly expanded.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had been planning this move for years, but Covid got in the way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
BC Boxing, the state organizing body, originally planned to build a facility in Langford. Its location was on Bear Mountain, and then Starlight Stadium was considered, but then dropped from those plans.<\/p>\n

Five of the current state teams have trained from Island Boxing under Haight, and two local players, Victoria’s Terris Smith and Langford’s Braydon Brasina, are currently chasing a spot on the national team. .
