He joins his Big League camp as an off-roster invitee.

The 35-year-old has seen some big league action in four seasons, including each of the last two seasons. He was at the Braves’ highest level last season, where he only pitched two and he scored 1/3 of his frames scoreless. He spent his first few months with Latitude strain putting him out of action, and spent most of the year assigning options to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Jackson pitched very well for the Stripers, allowing only 5 runs in 19 2/3 innings. He struck out his 25 of his 80 batters he faced (31.3% clip) and only he walked 4. Despite that quality work, Jackson failed to earn a spot in the Atlanta bullpen, one of his deepest spots in the sport. The Braves made a full waiver in September and reached his agency minor league free at the end of the season.

The veteran Hurler recorded more extensive MLB action for the Giants during the 2021 campaign. In his 23 appearances for San Francisco, he pitched 21 2/3 innings and posted a 3.74 earned run average, while he struck out 31.1% of the batters he faced. Although he missed many bats, he suffered from erratic control and gave his passes free to opponents more than 13% of the time.

Jackson will join the camp and vie for a spot in the Toronto bullpen that could have several openings in the midfield. Jordan Romano, Eric Swanson, Anthony Bass, Imi Garcia When Tim Mayza You have to reserve a spot. Adam Cimber And hurler without options Trevor Richards When Mitch White You can have an inside track with the rest of the job, but it doesn’t look solidly penciled in. Jackson himself has no minor league options. Rosters at any time.

[ad_2]

Source link

[ad_1] Blue Jays to get relief Jay Jackson Report Jon Heyman of the New York Post to a minor league contract (twitter link).
