MANCHESTER, England (Reuters) – Marcus Rashford hit six games with a late double as Manchester United beat third-tier Charlton Athletic 3-0 on Wednesday to reach the League Cup semi-finals. Scored consecutive goals.<\/p>\n
A much-changed United dominated early in the opening stages and took the lead in the 21st minute when Brazilian forward Anthony scored a spectacular shot into the far corner.<\/p>\n
Anthony’s teammate Fred then scored a sensational shot from a free-kick, but his sharp shot went wide of the inside post.<\/p>\n
United had another chance to add in the game-decisive two seconds before Rashford came off the bench and scored two goals in the closing minutes to extend the home side’s eighth straight win in all competitions.<\/p>\n
Rashford has scored 15 goals in all competitions this season, compared with just five last season and has scored in eight consecutive games at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
“I’ve said it many times, if we’re in a one-on-one position in the box, we’ll score,” said coach Eric ten Hag. “That’s what he’s doing now. If he stays focused and keeps doing what he’s doing, he’ll score more.”<\/p>\n
“I was happy in the first half, but I wasn’t happy that I wasn’t calm in front of goal. We created a lot of chances, we should have scored more. I had to<\/p>\n
