Chris Cotillo of Masslive.com pitched the idea of \u200b\u200bthe Boston Red Sox chasing shortstop Carlos Correa, who is off a 12-year, $315 million contract with the New York Mets.<\/p>\n

On the one hand, it makes sense for Boston to see the Red Sox acquire shortstop Xander Bogaerts on an 11-year, $280 million deal with the San Diego Padres.<\/p>\n
There is no world where the Red Sox can give Correa a win <\/i>13-year, $350 million deal<\/i> like <\/i>giants<\/i> Like the Mets, they wanted a 12-year, $315 million deal. At this point, his physical concerns (reportedly related to his foot injury nearly a decade ago) left Correa far more than his two he had already accepted. They will accept deals that may be worth less money.<\/i><\/p>\n
But Cotillo sees one scenario where Correa could be headed for Beantown.<\/p>\n
If Correa wants to reestablish his worth by signing another short-term contract (he effectively signed a one-year, $35.1 million contract with Minnesota last March), the Red Sox make sense. I’m here. …it’s still unclear if Correa will have to sign another certification deal, but the Red Sox won’t, even after handing over $331 million. <\/i>Rafael Devers<\/i> Last week, it would make sense if the club were looking to cross the competitive balance tax threshold for the second year in a row in 2023.<\/i><\/p>\n

Correa to the Red Sox isn’t quite a left fielder, according to Cotillo. That’s because Boston manager Alex Cora admitted in an interview with Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia that the Red Sox spoke to Correa at some point this winter.<\/p>\n
The 28-year-old Correa is a two-time All-Star with a Gold Glove, World Series title and Rookie of the Year award on his resume.<\/p>\n
