Rancho Santa Margarita \u2014 Santa Margarita women’s soccer coach Craig Bull found a way for the Eagles to win every game in the non-league portion of the schedule.<\/p>\n
With two games now in the Trinity League, arguably the best league in the county, the Eagles’ first-year coach seems to be doing the same.<\/p>\n
Angelina Moschetti’s first-half goal was all the Eagles needed in a 1-0 win over previously undefeated JSerra in the Trinity League contest at Santa Margarita High School on Saturday.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\nSanta Margarita (11-0-1, 2-0) are ranked 5th in Division 1\/2 of the CIF Southern Section, and the win beat the Eagles’ highest-ranked opponents of the season, the Lions (9-1). -). 1), ranked 11th.<\/p>\n
“Today we had a game plan to stick with,” Bull said. “There were some calls that didn’t go our way, but the girls really stuck with it and didn’t get frustrated. I’m very happy with how the girls played.”<\/p>\n
Moschetti’s goal came in the 15th minute with a kick from the left side of the goal that sent the ball diagonally into the right corner of the goal.<\/p>\n

Moschetti said, “It was 100% a team goal. ‘Craig (Ball) said ‘Shoot.’ I have confirmed that I have found the<\/p>\n
On defense, the Eagles neutralized two of the Lions’ freshman forwards, Peyton Marinos, who leads the team with eight goals, and Maya Woolford, who is tied with team lead Marinos with three assists.<\/p>\n
Ball has coached Woolford in the club team.<\/p>\n
“It’s a lot easier to have Maya on the team than it is to coach Maya against them,” Ball said.<\/p>\n
After having no legitimate scoring chances in the first half, the Lions had several in the second half.<\/p>\n
JSerra’s best scoring chances came in the last 20 minutes. The first was Kenzie Hershing’s shot that went several feet to the right of the goal, and the second was a hard shot by Marinos that hit Eagles freshman goalie Peyton Treyer.<\/p>\n\n
“They have a great forward,” Ball said. “So when you’re playing against forwards at that level, you can’t stop them for the entire game.<\/p>\n
The Eagles also did a good job keeping away with sharp passes in the final minutes.<\/p>\n
Second-year coach Angel Brown of J Serra said, “I told them every game[in the league]was going to be tough. ‘Every team is in good form. It’s always difficult.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
