I went down with<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a lot to learn, Valley View is a great team,\u201d said Bridgeland coach Jared Gillespie.  \u201cA lot of the young players played really well today. That&#8217;s what the showcase is for and to work out some of the kinks. I intend to move forward.<\/p>\n<p>All Cy-Fair ISD teams except Cypress Woods and Cypress Ranch are participating in the showcase along with 15 other Greater Houston teams. There are 28 teams in all.<\/p>\n<p>Cypress Creek and McArthur had their deepest playoff runs a year ago, but both were one game short of reaching the state tournament.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s Valley View&#8217;s 13th season participating in the showcase. The Tigers are one of his three players from across the state, along with Harlingen South and Nacogdoches.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a great experience for the kids,&#8221; said Valley View coach Gerardo Salazar.  &#8220;Like we say in the valley over there, it&#8217;s a completely different animal and that&#8217;s why we love coming here. \u2026We usually come here just before the district starts and helps us a lot.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If there&#8217;s one tournament I want to come to, it&#8217;s this one.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>        <!-- Missed: ad --><\/p>\n<p>Diego Ontiveros gave Valleyview the lead with a tap-in goal after 12 minutes (2-2). Jesus&#8217; shot from inside the Almaraz box was blocked, but the ball bounced into the hands of the goalkeeper before Ontiveros made it 1\u20130 for him.<\/p>\n<p>Bridgeland (3-1) took advantage of a Valley View mistake midway through the first half. The Tigers dead he thought he was the ball but Brantley he did so as Hollis rolled the ball before the goalkeeper rolled it and Hollis jumped in front of the ball and kicked it home to make it 1-1. , knew it wasn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>With 13 minutes remaining in the first half, Arredondo&#8217;s bicycle kick after receiving a pass from outside the area made it 2-1. Christian Gonzalez extended the lead in the second half with a counter-attack. After a mistimed header, the ball soared over a Bears player before Gonz\u00e1lez recovered the unmarked ball and scored with a center strike.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday we wanted the kids to have fun and touch the ball without getting their cards, getting hurt, because that\u2019s our game,\u201d Salazar said. .<\/p>\n<p>Bridgeland finished third overall last season with a 12-4-8 record and a 7-1-6 record in District 16 6A before losing 1-0 to Woodlands in the third round. The Bears kicked off the season with his 2\u20131 victory over Cypress in his creek before showcased him shutting out Waller in the opener, 4\u20130, and edging the West Side to his 3rd spot on Friday morning. We lost 2 to 2.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"article--content-inline\">\n<aside class=\"zone\"><!-- src\/business\/widgets\/hearst\/collection\/widget.tpl --><!-- e src\/business\/widgets\/hearst\/collection\/widget.tpl --><\/aside>\n<\/aside>\n<p>&#8220;We are trying to get better every day,&#8221; said Gillespie.  \u201cThe season is just getting started, let&#8217;s see what happens to the district in the second half. &#8220;<\/p>\n<p>Valley View are 18-4-2 overall and 14-1 in District 31-5A, losing 2-1 to Pace in the first round of the playoffs. The Tigers dropped the showcase opener 3\u20130 against McArthur, and on the second day he won 2\u20130 against Jersey Village and Bridgeland. Salazar said the loss to MacArthur made them adapt. The Tigers will face College Park in the Showcase finale.<\/p>\n<p>        <!-- Missed: ad --><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some pieces are missing.
