NFL owners approved a resolution on Friday that the AFC championship game could be played at a neutral location later this month. Select.<\/p>\n

If that happens, there will be no games in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n

of Indianapolis Business Journal<\/em> The city rejected the NFL’s request to host the AFC championship game. It is unclear whether Indianapolis was the NFL’s first choice or one of several possibilities.<\/p>\n

Indianapolis conflicts with the reserved Indy Convention Center. Lucas Oil Stadium hosts a national volleyball tournament expected to draw as many as 30,000 visitors to town. The city’s hotel occupancy rate is over 7,000 at its weekend peak.<\/p>\n

According to reports, the league asked Colts executives earlier this week about hosting a game on Jan. 28 or Jan. 29, but Indianapolis quickly responded that Lucas Oil Stadium was unavailable.<\/p>\n
