The cause of death has not been revealed. <\/p>\n<p>A former Padres member, Colbert hit 163 home runs for the team from 1969-74. <\/p>\n<p>Padres Chairman Peter Seidler said in a statement, &#8220;Nate was devoted to his community off the field and dedicated his time to underprivileged youth through his ministry.&#8221; He was a kind person.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"\/>\n<p>The first baseman played briefly for the Astros before being selected by the Padres in the expansion draft. He was an All-Star from 1971-73 and finished eighth in the 1972 NL MVP voting. <\/p>\n<p>In 1972, Colbert became the second player in major league history to hit five homers in a doubleheader.
