(January 5, 2023 \/ <\/span>JNS)<\/span> Dmitry Sarita remembers fighting for respect in the ring. His record speaks for itself. He fought professionally from his 2001 to his 2013 with a record of 35-2-1 and his 18 knockouts.<\/span><\/p>\n

Former Brooklyn resident Sarita will be inducted into the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame on April 30, along with friends and former martial arts fighters Zab Judah and Paulie Malignaggi. Sarita’s name will go down in history with Jewish fighters like Benny Leonard and Maxie Rosenbloom. .<\/span><\/p>\n

“As a Ukrainian immigrant who came to America to fulfill my dream, and as an Orthodox Jew who didn’t fight in Shabbos, it’s an honor to know that I will be inducted into the Hall of Fame along with my friends Zab and Pauly.” told JNS. \u201cSome people doubted that I could succeed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sarita said he shares the honor with the late Jimmy O’Fallow, the coach who trained him at Starlet City Boxing Club in Brooklyn.<\/span><\/p>\n

Offfallow once told this journalist that Sarita is a “disciplined, listening” person and has a strong work ethic. In 2011, she passed away at the age of 85.<\/span><\/p>\n

Salita said O’Pharrow was the best mentor he could have asked for and they had great mutual respect.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI learned a lot of lessons from boxing, I learned balance both in the ring and in life: not too high or too low, keep your balance,\u201d Sarita said. \u201cEmotions do not rule in and out of the ring. I have to give my coach Jimmy O a credit. This award is for me and for him.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Sarita said one of his goals was to show that Jews are tough, winning the New York Golden Gloves (2001, at 139 pounds) and the WBF Junior Welterweight World Title (2008), among others. We backed it up by winning the title. He added that refusing to fight in Shabbos helped him find balance.<\/span><\/p>\n

In 2010, Sarita became a boxing promoter.he is based in brooklyn <\/span>Sarita promotion.This September he <\/span>was named <\/span>Promoter of the Year<\/span> ring 10 <\/span>VBA is a non-profit organization that helps former professional boxers in need of financial assistance.<\/span><\/p>\n

She avenged her only defeat as an amateur by beating Savannah her Marshall in England. Shields is undefeated professionally and a rematch will take place between the two women.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI never thought I would win Promoter of the Year at such a young age,\u201d said Sarita, 40. She would love to see her fight in Africa or the Middle East.she [Muhammad] Ali, [Michael] Jordan, or whatever you want to say, she’s the best.<\/span><\/p>\n

Is Salita the first Promoter of the Year not to swear during a conference?<\/span><\/p>\n

“I think so,” he said with a laugh.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sarita Sees Promotion as a Great Opportunity After Losing Title Shot <\/span>WBA light welterweight champion <\/span>Amir Khan in England in 2009. He founded Sarita Promotions and said wearing a yamruk was an advantage, not a disadvantage.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I try to live by example. I think people should treat each other fairly and with respect,” Sarita said. “I think it’s important to be proud of who you are.”<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
