Former NFL player and CNN reporter Coy Wyer expressed his shock after the Buffalo Bills’ Dumar Hamlin collapsed during Monday night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. <\/p>\n

“There didn’t appear to be any direct hits to the head or neck. His head didn’t look too crushed either. So it’s impossible to guess what kind of injury this is,” Wyer said Monday. told CNN’s Anderson Cooper.<\/p>\n

Hamlin fell on his back on the field shortly after getting up following an open-field tackle on Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins.<\/p>\n

Wire, who played nine seasons in the NFL and is now a sports anchor for CNN, said the collapse was devastating.<\/p>\n

<\/svg>“I’ve never seen a reaction from a hit like that,” he said.<\/q><\/div>\n

Visibly emotional, Weyer said sympathies should be sent to Hamlin’s family and his loved ones.<\/p>\n

“I’m trying to keep calm for you because I think it’s important that we send our prayers and think of Damar and his family,” Wire told Cooper. .<\/p>\n

Wire also praised the NFL’s move to suspend games after Hamlin’s collapse.<\/p>\n

“I’m very proud that the NFL stopped the game because I don’t think it would have happened 10 years ago,” he said. \u201cRecently, the focus has been on the safety of the players, and we have stopped the game. I think that is progress.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
