FRANK WARREN and Queensberry have announced a long-term promotional deal with World Youth and European Heavyweight Champion Moses Itauma.<\/p>\n
The acclaimed Chatham-based heavy, who turned 18 on Thursday, joins his brother, reigning Olympic Youth Champion Karol, in the Queensbury ranks to compete in BT Sport.<\/p>\n
Itauma has won gold medals at Schools, Juniors and Young Europeans, and his world gold medal was recently won in Spain in November. He’s his two-time National Champion, Multi-Nation BoxCup winner, and as an amateur he’s undefeated in 24 fights, only one of which he’s been split decided at age 11.<\/p>\n
Represented by CSM, a management group recently founded by Francis Warren, he now has fellow heavyweights Tyson Fury, Joe Joyce, Daniel DuBois, David Adele and Boma Brown in the sport. Participating in Queensberry colors.<\/p>\n
“Frank Warren has been on the circuit for many years and is the right person for the job, so it’s exciting for me,” Itauma said of partnering with the Hall of Fame promoter. .<\/p>\n
“For me now, it’s a really quick step up. I never started boxing to win a world title. I literally kept going to the gym. We’re like a small family at St Mary’s ABC.” Because then I started winning national titles.<\/p>\n
“About two years ago, I started to feel that amateur bout wasn’t for me and I started to grow up. I don’t consider myself special, but maybe when I started sparring with Lawrence O’Colley, I realized I was good at boxing, I was 14-15 and had my own.<\/p>\n
“After that, I was sparring with Joe Joyce, Daniel Dubois, Anthony Joshua, and even when it didn’t work out, I held my own… yawn.<\/p>\n
Frank Warren, on the other hand, believes he’s poised to make a big splash in the heavyweight scene.<\/p>\n
“We have a new addition to the booming British heavyweight division and this man is poised to rise to the top,” the promoter said. “For very obvious reasons, Moses is an in-demand young man and we are thrilled that he has chosen Queensbury to lead and further his career.<\/p>\n
“We have a solid track record of leading young fighters to major title success, and Moses will be in good company with other elite contenders who are already advancing in the professional ranks.<\/p>\n
