The Yankees increased their hitting resources by hiring Wilkerson, who played for four MLB teams over eight seasons from 2001-2008. Tampa Bay Rays News: Tropicana Field Area Redevelopment Plans<\/h2>\n
Tropicana Field and the surrounding area will reportedly undergo major renovations in the coming months to keep the Rays in St. Petersburg.<\/p>\n
On Monday, St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch announced plans for a new stadium for the Rays as part of an 86-acre reconstruction. The new ballpark is expected to open in time for the 2028 season, according to reports.<\/p>\n
