After failing to find a foothold in Omaha in 2011, the ambitious and somewhat obscure $125 million project finally broke ground in La Vista in August 2016.<\/p>\n
It took another seven years for it to evolve into the Nebraska Multisport Complex.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe plan to host soccer, flag football and lacrosse this spring,\u201d said Craig Scriven, executive director of the complex. “Diamond he can use this also has sports. I enjoy walking here on weekends and seeing three or he four different sports in action.”<\/p>\n
Obstacles include funding challenges, rail agreements, and excess charges due to COVID.<\/p>\n

Mayor La Vista believes the city’s $3 million investment is well worth it.<\/p>\n

The Hale Varsity Club Sports Bar and Grill, just across Giles Road, has only been open for a year, but has seen its potential impact in the fall.<\/p>\n
Assistant Manager Trekell Vogt said: “Especially in the fall he only had four, but it got him big business. You can only imagine.”<\/p>\n
When action is finally taken on all fields, it’s just the beginning.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe still have a lot of space here, so we’re looking at Phase 2 components, which will include an indoor field house that will be a 12-month facility,\u201d Scriven said. “So we mean he’s programming for 12 months in a year. Scriven says some cleanup remains, but the concession building is ready and all the fields are down for some action starting in March.<\/p>\n
