Twin Falls, Idaho (KMVT\/KSVT) \u2014 The Southern Idaho University rodeo team is gearing up for a pretty good season. It currently ranks 6th overall for men and 11th for women in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association standings.<\/p>\n
But this weekend, cowboys and cowgirls are doing something different….they hit the boxing ring.<\/p>\n
The 45th Annual CSI Boxing Smoker is this Saturday.<\/p>\n
CSI Rodeo Team Head Coach Steve Barney said: <\/p>\n
Cowboys and cowgirls, and perhaps one or two members of the public, challenge it in the ring. It’s an event that takes months to prepare and a long time to train for athletes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year, we had a month-long training camp before that, and to the best of our knowledge of how boxers train and what they should do, it incorporates boxing workouts and more,\u201d Darien said. Johnson – Sophomore bareback rider. <\/p>\n
This is the largest fundraiser for the CSI rodeo team, which is only partially funded by the university. The goal is about 400,000 yen. <\/p>\n
“That money we spend on everything. Scholarships, travel expenses, practice fees, hay for inventory, motels on the move. We spend a lot of money and we have to do it well,” coach Barney said. Told. <\/p>\n
The organizer will cover the cost of the event. And rodeo coach Steve Barney says he has 30 to 40 this year. <\/p>\n
The Expo Center has a capacity of just over 3,000 people. However, we cannot provide the same level of entertainment without our sponsors. <\/p>\n
This atmosphere is an invaluable experience for competing athletes.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery time I wake up that morning, I have butterflies in my stomach. I think it’s a wake up day,” said Eric Bettencourt, a sophomore bareback rider.<\/p>\n
Tickets are still available. General admission is $12 at the door. <\/p>\n
