Indiana’s Trace Jackson-Davis, on the other hand, could pose an outside threat.<\/p>\n
Choosing a tier for this category is not an easy task. <\/p>\n

Best moment:<\/strong> Edey scored 32 points and took 17 boards in a 64-63 win over Michigan State on January 16.<\/p>\nTrace Jackson Davis, Indiana<\/strong><\/p>\nJackson-Davis battled injuries and came back stronger as a Big Ten powerhouse. Best moment:<\/strong> Against Alabama in Birmingham on December 17, Tim scored 29 points and won 10 boards in a 100-90 win over Gonzaga.<\/p>\nArmando Baco<\/u><\/strong>, <\/strong>north carolina<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\nBacot is back to compete for the national title as well as ACC and National Player of the Year. He can still beat the former, but not the latter.<\/p>\n
Best moment:<\/strong> Baccott had 28 points and 15 boards in an 89\u201384 overtime win over Ohio State at Madison Square Garden on December 17.<\/p>\nOskar Zibwe<\/u><\/strong>, <\/strong>kentucky<\/u><\/strong> <\/p>\nTshiebwe has had to deal with injuries and this season has not been as effective as winning the Naismith Trophy a year ago. Best moment: <\/strong>Dickinson scored 32 points and took 12 boards in the highly anticipated New Year’s Day game against Maryland.<\/p>\nRyan Kalkbrenner<\/u><\/strong>Clayton<\/strong><\/p>\nKalkbrenner is a rim protector and solid finisher. His injury has been a problem for the Blue Jays this season, but if he stays healthy he could be a big asset in March.<\/p>\n
Best moment: <\/strong>Kalkbrenner scored 21 points and won seven boards in a 73-67 win over Providence on January 14.<\/p>\nTier 3: Get moving<\/strong><\/h3>\nKyle Filipowski<\/u><\/strong>, <\/strong>duke<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\nContrary to preseason expectations, Filipowski has become Duke’s best big man. The highly rated freshman leads the Dukes in points scored (15.7), rebounds (9.5) and steals (1.3).<\/p>\n
Best moment: <\/strong>Filipowski scored 28 points and 15 boards in the pit race on January 11th. <\/p>\nBranden Carlson<\/strong>, <\/strong>Utah<\/strong><\/p>\nCarlsson has been overshadowed by others in the Pac-12, but this season he’s making his mark. The 7-foot-tall Utah native is currently in the Pac-12 where he’s 8-3 with the Utos, where he has 17.1 points per game and he has 7.6 boards.<\/p>\n
Best moment: <\/strong>Carlson scored 22 points against Arizona and played better than Biggs for the Wildcats. <\/p>\nClifford Omlui<\/strong>, <\/strong>Rutgers<\/strong><\/p>\nOmoruyi is one of the hardest players to deal with in the post. He can dunk anyone, get to the rim quickly, and change and block shots at will.<\/p>\n

Best moment: <\/strong>Clowney scored 17 points and won 14 boards in his January 21 road win in Missouri.<\/p>\nMorris Udeze<\/strong>, <\/strong>new mexico<\/strong><\/p>\nUdeze was the unsung hero of the Lobos’ breakthrough season under coach Richard Pitino. The 6-foot-8-inch senior has recorded his five double-doubles in his last six games in New Mexico.<\/p>\n
Best moment: <\/strong>Udeze scored 15 points, including the game-winning bucket from inbound play, to beat Boise State in overtime on January 20.<\/p>\nStephen Kroll<\/strong>, <\/strong>Wisconsin<\/strong><\/p>\nKroll isn’t much loved nationally, but he’s been a staple for the Badgers this season. The junior big man is averaging 12.6 points and 6.7 rebounds for Wisconsin.<\/p>\n

He leads the Tigers in points (15.5), rebounds (10.0) and steals (0.9).<\/p>\n
Best moment: <\/strong>He had 31 points and 13 boards in a win over North Carolina on December 30.<\/p>\nJareth Walker<\/strong>, <\/strong>houston<\/strong><\/p>\nFreshman Big had plenty of title contender moments. Walker entered the new year with 23 points and 10 rebounds in an 87-53 win over SMU and played a key role in the Cougars’ 7-1 start in America. fulfilled.<\/p>\n
Best moment: <\/strong>Walker scored 17 points and won 7 boards in his road win in Virginia on December 17th. <\/p>\nTier 5: Do not sleep on top<\/strong><\/h3>\ndeandre williams<\/strong>, <\/strong>memphis<\/strong><\/p>\nWilliams hasn’t gotten the attention he deserves. He has been the Tigers’ anchor so far this season, posting 17.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n
Best moment: <\/strong>Williams fouled out but was upset by Auburn to go strong against Memphis. He scored his 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in his 82\u201373 victory. <\/p>\nColin Castleton<\/strong>, <\/strong>florida<\/strong><\/p>\nCastleton is back in play under coach Todd Golden and has proven to be one of the SEC’s most reliable post players. The 6-foot-11-inch senior leads the Gators in points (15.0), rebounds (7.6), steals (1.0) and blocks (3.0).<\/p>\n

He can still beat the former, but not the latter.<\/p>\n Best moment:<\/strong> Baccott had 28 points and 15 boards in an 89\u201384 overtime win over Ohio State at Madison Square Garden on December 17.<\/p>\n Oskar Zibwe<\/u><\/strong>, <\/strong>kentucky<\/u><\/strong> <\/p>\n Tshiebwe has had to deal with injuries and this season has not been as effective as winning the Naismith Trophy a year ago. But with the 6-foot-9-inch, 260-pound center locked in, the Wildcats are a key factor.<\/p>\n Best moment:<\/strong> Tshiebwe scored 37 points and took 24 boards in an 85-71 win over Georgia on 17 January.<\/p>\n Azuolas Tubelis<\/u><\/strong>, <\/strong>Arizona<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Tubelis has been a consistent presence in the Wildcats and will continue to be a tough matchup. The 6-foot-11-inch, 245-pound big man from Lithuania has recorded a double-double in his six of his last seven games in Arizona.<\/p>\n Best Big Man Moments: <\/strong>Chuveris exploded in Hawaii with 30 points and 11 rebounds against Cincinnati in the opening round of the Maui Invitational.<\/p>\n Umar Baro<\/strong>Arizona<\/strong><\/p>\n Barro has made remarkable progress under Tommy Lloyd at the University of Arizona. He is a special talent averaging 16.1 points, 9 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game with the Wildcats.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Varo dominated Clayton with 30 points and 13 rebounds in the Maui Invitational final. <\/p>\n Adama Sanogo<\/u><\/strong>, <\/strong>U Conn<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Sanogo was Big East Preseason Player of the Year. He’s a tough player for opponents to deal with, so he could still reach that level.At 6 feet 9 inches and 245 pounds, Sanogo is a force in the paint world. He leads the Big East in scoring with 16.9 points per game and has pulled down 7.2 boards per game, which ranks him ninth in the conference.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Sanogo scored 25 points in November’s 82-67 victory over Alabama in Portland.<\/p>\n hunter dickinson<\/strong>, <\/strong>Michigan<\/strong><\/p>\n Dickinson is back on the list of Big Ten Player of the Year nominees. He probably won’t win any awards, but he’s a first-team All-Big Ten player. <\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Dickinson scored 32 points and took 12 boards in the highly anticipated New Year’s Day game against Maryland.<\/p>\n Ryan Kalkbrenner<\/u><\/strong>Clayton<\/strong><\/p>\n Kalkbrenner is a rim protector and solid finisher. His injury has been a problem for the Blue Jays this season, but if he stays healthy he could be a big asset in March.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Kalkbrenner scored 21 points and won seven boards in a 73-67 win over Providence on January 14.<\/p>\n Kyle Filipowski<\/u><\/strong>, <\/strong>duke<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Contrary to preseason expectations, Filipowski has become Duke’s best big man. The highly rated freshman leads the Dukes in points scored (15.7), rebounds (9.5) and steals (1.3).<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Filipowski scored 28 points and 15 boards in the pit race on January 11th. <\/p>\n Branden Carlson<\/strong>, <\/strong>Utah<\/strong><\/p>\n Carlsson has been overshadowed by others in the Pac-12, but this season he’s making his mark. The 7-foot-tall Utah native is currently in the Pac-12 where he’s 8-3 with the Utos, where he has 17.1 points per game and he has 7.6 boards.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Carlson scored 22 points against Arizona and played better than Biggs for the Wildcats. <\/p>\n Clifford Omlui<\/strong>, <\/strong>Rutgers<\/strong><\/p>\n Omoruyi is one of the hardest players to deal with in the post. He can dunk anyone, get to the rim quickly, and change and block shots at will.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Omolui scored 14 points, won 11 boards and blocked six shots in a 68-64 overtime victory over Ohio State on January 15.<\/p>\n Zach Fremantle<\/strong>, <\/strong>Xavier<\/strong><\/p>\n Fremantle has played well alongside Jack Nunge this season, but he has plenty of standout moments of his own. He recorded his four double-doubles in his January.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Freemantle scored 29 points and won 11 boards against Villanova on January 7th. <\/p>\n Daron Holmes<\/strong>, <\/strong>Dayton<\/strong><\/p>\n Holmes has had an illustrious career at Dayton and has not disappointed so far this season. The 6-foot-10-inch, 225-pound big man ranks him third in the A10 in both scoring (18.4) and rebounding (8.0).<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Holmes scored 32 points in a road win at Davidson on New Year’s Eve and won 10 boards. <\/p>\n Noah Clowney<\/strong>Alabama<\/strong><\/p>\n Clowney has gotten better every game throughout his freshman season. He praised Brandon Miller and formed a solid one-two punch for the Crimson Tide.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Clowney scored 17 points and won 14 boards in his January 21 road win in Missouri.<\/p>\n Morris Udeze<\/strong>, <\/strong>new mexico<\/strong><\/p>\n Udeze was the unsung hero of the Lobos’ breakthrough season under coach Richard Pitino. The 6-foot-8-inch senior has recorded his five double-doubles in his last six games in New Mexico.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Udeze scored 15 points, including the game-winning bucket from inbound play, to beat Boise State in overtime on January 20.<\/p>\n Stephen Kroll<\/strong>, <\/strong>Wisconsin<\/strong><\/p>\n Kroll isn’t much loved nationally, but he’s been a staple for the Badgers this season. The junior big man is averaging 12.6 points and 6.7 rebounds for Wisconsin.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Kroll had 21 points and 11 rebounds in late possession in a win over Penn State on January 17. <\/p>\n hunter tyson<\/strong>, <\/strong>Clemson<\/strong><\/p>\n Tyson is the Tigers’ most reliable and versatile scorer in contention for the ACC title. He leads the Tigers in points (15.5), rebounds (10.0) and steals (0.9).<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>He had 31 points and 13 boards in a win over North Carolina on December 30.<\/p>\n Jareth Walker<\/strong>, <\/strong>houston<\/strong><\/p>\n Freshman Big had plenty of title contender moments. Walker entered the new year with 23 points and 10 rebounds in an 87-53 win over SMU and played a key role in the Cougars’ 7-1 start in America. fulfilled.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Walker scored 17 points and won 7 boards in his road win in Virginia on December 17th. <\/p>\n deandre williams<\/strong>, <\/strong>memphis<\/strong><\/p>\n Williams hasn’t gotten the attention he deserves. He has been the Tigers’ anchor so far this season, posting 17.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Williams fouled out but was upset by Auburn to go strong against Memphis. He scored his 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in his 82\u201373 victory. <\/p>\n Colin Castleton<\/strong>, <\/strong>florida<\/strong><\/p>\n Castleton is back in play under coach Todd Golden and has proven to be one of the SEC’s most reliable post players. The 6-foot-11-inch senior leads the Gators in points (15.0), rebounds (7.6), steals (1.0) and blocks (3.0).<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Castleton contributed 16 points, 13 boards, 3 steals and 2 blocks for the Gators against Missouri on January 14. <\/p>\n Liam Robbins<\/strong>, <\/strong>vanderbilt<\/strong><\/p>\n Minnesota’s transfer is sound and wreaking havoc with the SEC. He’s up his 13.2 points and his 5.9 boards to the Commodores.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Robbins scored 22, stole seven boards, and picked up six blocks in an overtime victory over South Carolina on January 3. <\/p>\n Brandon Johns Jr.<\/strong>, <\/strong>VCUs<\/strong><\/p>\n A move to Michigan has worked out well lately and came in time for the Rams’ surge. The 6-foot-8-inch senior has eight straight games at VCU where he’s scoring in double digits.<\/p>\n Best moment: <\/strong>Johns won over Pitt in Brooklyn, scoring 18 points and picking up nine boards.<\/p>\n jesse edwards<\/strong>,Senior, <\/strong>Syracuse<\/strong><\/p>\n Edwards played well for the Oranges, a team that could still start a postseason campaign.
