MLB Network Names Dansby Swanson 6th Best SS<\/em><\/p>\n

MLB Network has named the top 10 shortstops for the 2023 season, placing Cubs newly acquired shortstop Dansby Swanson in sixth best position.<\/p>\n

Last season, Swanson hit .277\/.329\/.447 at bat and had nine defensive saves at shortstop, putting him at the elite defensive level.<\/p>\n

As such, Swanson finished near the top 10 in his first All-Star, Gold Glove, and MVP voting.<\/p>\n

But for Cubs fans, it’s hard to miss who finished in the top three.<\/p>\n

Trea Turner, Carlos Correa and Xander Bogaerts won the first three spots. They were both free agents last offseason. Correa and Bogaerts were reportedly chased by the Cubs.<\/p>\n

The Cubs may have missed Correa and Bogaerts. Correa signed with the Minnesota Twins, Bogaerts with the San Diego Padres, and Turner with the Philadelphia Phillies.<\/p>\n

Swanson signed a 7-year, $177 million deal with the Cubs after the shortstop market was in turmoil.<\/p>\n
