No one will know the All-Star roster until that evening. Not even the players themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Team captains, presumably Los Angeles Lakers&#8217; LeBron James, and either Milwaukee&#8217;s Giannis Antetokounmpo or Brooklyn&#8217;s Kevin Durant made their choices during a live pre-game segment just before the game began in Salt Lake City. I do.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline editorial float-r\" data-behavior=\"article_related\">\n<h2 class=\"editorial-title\">Editor&#8217;s Pick<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=\/photo\/2023\/0124\/r1122084_2_1296x1296_1-1.jpg&amp;w=130&amp;h=130&amp;scale=crop&amp;location=center\" width=\"65\" height=\"65\"\/><\/li>\n<li><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=\/photo\/2023\/0124\/r202799_608x342_16-9.jpg&amp;w=130&amp;h=130&amp;scale=crop&amp;location=center\" width=\"65\" height=\"65\"\/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1 related<\/p>\n<\/aside>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">The NBA and the National Basketball Players Association announced the format change Tuesday night.<\/p>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">This is the sixth time the league has used a captain-selected team format, but in each of the first five instances the roster was selected several days before the game.<\/p>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">Captains and starters will be announced on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">James has been captain for the first five years and is all but certain to be captain again this year, according to the league&#8217;s ballot released last weekend. Players with the highest percentage of votes in both the Eastern and Western Conferences are eligible to become captains.<\/p>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">Durant was the early leader of the East Players, but was just behind Antetokounmpo in recent polls. He&#8217;s still expected to be selected as a starter, and it won&#8217;t be known until Thursday whether he&#8217;ll retake the East voting lead on final day.<\/p>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">Voting to determine the starters closed on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">&#8220;I want to play,&#8221; Durant told reporters in New York on Tuesday.  &#8220;I want to be part of all these events.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">The team captained by James is 5-0 in the All-Star Game.<\/p>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">Durant has captained the East as the voting leader in each of its last two games.<\/p>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">The top three frontcourt players and top two guards in each conference are selected as starters, and the top overall vote-getter in each conference selects the team as captain.<\/p>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">50% of starter votes are fan votes, 25% are media votes and the remaining 25% are votes by NBA players.<\/p>\n<p xmlns=\"http:\/\/iptc.org\/std\/NITF\/2006-10-18\/\">The NBA coaches and reserves selected by seven players from each conference will be announced on February 2.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[ad_2]<br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/news.google.com\/__i\/rss\/rd\/articles\/CBMiYmh0dHBzOi8vd3d3LmVzcG4uY29tL25iYS9zdG9yeS9fL2lkLzM1NTE5NTg4L25iYS1hbGwtc3Rhci1jYXB0YWlucy1waWNraW5nLXJvc3RlcnMtbGl2ZS1uaWdodC1nYW1l0gEA?oc=5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[ad_1] The NBA All-Star Game is February 19th.
