Kellin Cassidy is the current two-time National Senior Elite Boxing Champion.<\/em><\/p>\n

The semi-finals and finals of the National Elite Championship at Dublin’s National Stadium was a big win for amateur boxing in Waterford.
On Friday night, Sabers Crystal’s Kerrin Cassidy faced St. Mary’s Brian Kennedy in the 80 kg semi-final, and it was the Waterford player who led the way with a 5-0 scoreline.
This set Kellin up for Saturday night’s final against Sean McDermotts’ Jason Clancy, and the 2021 champion was quite impressive as he became a two-time National Elite Champion.
It was all power when he scored a stoppage victory over Tommy Hyde in the final Elite installment and broke his National Elite duct. Showing his confidence as an elite operator with world-class experience, he beat Jason Clancy by unanimous vote. The savior Crystalman is next on track to qualify for the 2024 European Games and the Paris Olympics.
Kellin’s clubmate Sean Purcell (pictured below) also qualified for the National Finals with a stunning win over Holy Family Club’s Jordan Smith in the 57kg semi-final on Friday night. bottom. Purcell’s final on Saturday night as he lost to St Carthage’s Paul Loonham in a fast-paced final.<\/p>\n

Also on Saturday night, 22-year-old Tramore fighter Zara Breslin (pictured below) will face Olympic champion Kelly Harrington, 33, in the 60 kg final, while the St. I entered for the title. Kenneth Egan and Jim O’Sullivan were the only other fighters to reach that milestone.<\/p>\n

Breslin gave it all she had after an impressive semi-final win, but she had no answers that night against the great Harrington.
Christina Desmond (pictured below) representing the Dungarvan club proved too strong against Tiffany O’Reilly in Portris\u00e9 in the 70 kg final to win her fifth Irish Elite title.<\/p>\n
