      Carolina Panthers general manager Scott Fitter has some tough decisions ahead of him this offseason. Carolina needs to find a new head coach and finally find a quarterback for the franchise.<\/p>\n

      Over the past two years, the Panthers have traded Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield, and the results have been overwhelming. They also used 2022 third-round pick Matt Corral, but he has yet to see the field due to Lisfranc’s injury.<\/p>\n

      Carolina are close to winning the 2022 NFC South Title and with a dynamic quarterback like Jones at the helm of the offense, they could be a contender in 2023. During the regular season, Jones posted a passer rating of 92.5, threw for 15 touchdowns, and rushed for 708 yards and scored seven more, while only five interceptions.<\/p>\n

      Now, a lot depends on who the Panthers hire as head coach. A veteran offensive like Sean Payton, her coach could be very intrigued by the prospect of working with Jones.<\/p>\n

      Carolina is projected to exceed the cap by $4.2 million, so creating the necessary cap space can be a challenge for the Fitterer. But the Carolina aren’t in as dire a cap situation as their rivals, the Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.<\/p>\n

        Like the Panthers, the Indianapolis Colts are looking for stability in their new head coach and quarterback positions. The Colts have been disappointing in acquiring Carson Wentz and Matt Ryan over the past two seasons.<\/p>\n

            The New York Jets used No. 2 overall pick Zach Wilson in the 2021 draft, but may be looking for a new starter for 2023.<\/p>\n

            After Wilson’s initial benching, “many of Wilson’s teammates, and [then-offensive coordinator Mike] LaFleur was thrilled to start the offense with another quarterback,” wrote Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic.<\/p>\n

            If the Jets were to move from Wilson, Jones would be a logical fit. I did my job.<\/p>\n

            He clearly edged out Wilson, who ended the year with a dismal 72.8 passer rating. <\/p>\n

            With Jones playing the same offense as Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis and Michael Carter, hopefully with Bryce Hall coming off an ACL tear, he can create something special.<\/p>\n

            The Jets are looking for a new offensive coordinator after firing LaFleur, and cap space could be an issue. New York is projected to exceed the cap by $2.7 million. But if the Jets can create cap space and find a coordinator who isn’t going to “fix” Wilson, Jones makes a lot of sense.<\/p>\n

            Jones has been able to stabilize the offense and now has postseason experience and is used to playing under the scrutiny of the brutal New York media. <\/p>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n

              The Tennessee Titans face a tough decision for quarterback Ryan Tannehill. New general manager Ron Carson admitted as much during his introductory press conference.<\/p>\n

              “We’re still evaluating the roster. Ryan has been great here,” Carson said, according to NFL.com’s Michael Baka. “He’s won a lot of football games and we’re looking forward to winning football games, but we still need time to evaluate them and make decisions.”<\/p>\n

              If the Titans choose to move from Tannehill, releasing him in the post-June 1 designation could save $27 million off the cap. so this is a huge amount. <\/p>\n

              Ditching the final year of Tannehill’s contract would at least crack the door for Jones’ pursuit.<\/p>\n

              Jones would be a sensible replacement for Tannehill. increase. But he’s a much more rushed threat and will be a big weapon alongside Star’s running back Derrick Henry.<\/p>\n

                The Washington Commanders came close to making the playoffs this season, but quarterback volatility sank their chances late in the season. Taylor Heinicke performed just average in Washington, and the team’s 2022 bet on Wentz failed to pay dividends.<\/p>\n

                Wentz posted a disappointing 80.2 passer rating and went 2-5 as a starter.<\/p>\n

                Releasing Wentz would save us $26.2 million from the salary cap, which feels like a foregone conclusion. <\/p>\n

                Wentz is almost certain to leave, and Heinicke will become a free agent in March. If general manager Martin Mayhew and head coach Ron Rivera want to finally find answers at quarterback, then focusing on Jones would be a great start.<\/p>\n
