Despite a long offseason of scrutinizing buyers and scrutinizing numbers, Moreno wants to pull out and instead participate in turning around the franchise he&#8217;s owned for 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Confirming the sale would take place earlier this offseason, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred issued a statement regarding Moreno&#8217;s decision to keep the team. Here&#8217;s what he said:<\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-b not-size-c\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-0\"\/>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-b not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-0\"\/>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-0\"\/>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline not-size-b not-size-c not-size-d\"\/>\n<blockquote tml-render-layout=\"inline\" class=\"m-blockquote l-inline\">\n<p>\u201cDespite strong buyer interest in the Angels, Arte Moreno\u2019s love of the game is paramount to him.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>There was a lot of interest and at least six buyers were involved in buying the team. The Angels were expected to break the MLB franchise record at around $2.5 billion. Instead, however, Moreno decided to keep the team and work towards a return to the postseason.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-b not-size-c\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-1\"\/>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-b not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-1\"\/>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-a not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-1\"\/>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-b not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-0\"\/>\n<p>Here is Moreno&#8217;s full statement released via the Angels&#8217; Twitter account:<\/p>\n<blockquote tml-render-layout=\"inline\" class=\"m-blockquote l-inline\">\n<p>\u201cDuring this process, it became clear that we had unfinished business and felt we could have a positive impact on the future of the team and the fan experience.
