Monday night’s game in late January between the Washington Wizards and the San Antonio Spurs isn’t exactly a marquee matchup. Still, the contest had more challenges than most people probably realized. With a 127-106 victory, the Wizards ended his one of the strangest losing streaks in the NBA.

Even considering that an Eastern Conference team faces each Western Conference team only once a season on the road, it still went on a 22-game losing streak that lasted 8,451 days. Four players on the Wizards’ roster in this game and his seven on the Spurs’ roster hadn’t been born when the Wizards won their last in San Antonio.
It’s a cool piece of history to put an end to their woes in San Antonio, but the bigger story for the Wizards is that they now have the longest winning streak in the league, a six-game winning streak. As a result, they finished 24-26 in the Eastern Conference, placing him in ninth place, just 3.5 games behind the top six. At the very least, it should be in the mix for the rest of the play-in spots.
Deni Avdija led the scoring division in the game with a career-high 25 points off the bench. Meanwhile, Bradley Beal and Kristaps his Porzingis put in a strong all-around performance with a combined 38 points, 16 rebounds and 14 assists. Next to the Wizards is the low-ranking Detroit Pistons with the worst record in the East. If they can win that game, it will be the first of his seven-game winning streak since 2017 and the third longest winning streak in franchise history.
