MLB: The Show 23 announced Monday afternoon that Miami Marlins center fielder Jazz Chisholm will be on the cover of this year’s video game.
MLB: The Show also released a hype video in which Chisholm talks about growing up in the Bahamas while playing the games he loves. The video includes footage of Bahamian kids playing baseball, and also highlights Chisholm’s first three major league seasons in his season.
Chisholm grew up in the Bahamas and moved to the United States at age 12 to attend Life Prep Academy in Wichita, Kansas. In addition to baseball, Chisholm played basketball and soccer.
After high school, Chisholm returned to the Bahamas and signed with the Arizona Diamondbacks as an international free agent in July 2015.
Chisholm made his major league debut in 2020 and was voted to start the MLB All-Star Game at second base in the National League in 2022. He played just 60 games last season, but batted .254/.325/.860 with 14 homers and 45 RBIs.
Since making his Major League debut in 2020, Chisholm has a .243 batting average, a .305 on-base percentage and a .754 OPS in 205 games.
Chisholm has a lot to prove, but he’s excited about the challenge.
After the cover was unveiled, Chisholm said in a special livestream on MLB’s YouTube channel, “It’s something I’ve always dreamed of since I was a kid. I always wanted to be.” [on the cover of a video game], but I never thought it would become a reality so quickly. ”
