Warriors owner Lacob admits interest in buying Angels
Warriors owner Joe Lacob seems to be expanding his interests beyond the NBA.
Lacob has previously expressed interest in acquiring MLB teams and confirmed Thursday that he is considering buying MLB’s Los Angeles Angels.
Lacob said on a podcast with Athletic’s Tim Kawakami, “It’s been reported that we’re considering it. It’s true. I don’t know what we’re going to do yet. Growing up, it’s a little bit of a charm to me I was a peanut seller for seven years I used to live a mile away from that stadium That stadium has been around for a long time Great potential I always felt that I was
“LA is a huge market, part of the overall LA market. I think we have over 3 million fans. It’s not the easiest thing in the world because it’s not co-located like .
Lacob made it clear that his priority is the Warriors and that he’s looking to reclaim the NBA championship this season.
However, his interest in MLB dates back to before he was with Golden State. Before he bought the Warriors and built his Chase center in San Francisco and won four championships in eight years, Lacob tried to buy the Oakland Athletics.
The deal was “pulled away” from Lacob, he said in an interview last summer, and learned a very important lesson from the experience.
Lacob built a relationship around the NBA that helped him buy the Warriors for $450 million in 2010, but his eyes still remain on the baseball team across the Bay Bridge. I have only one problem.

“I’m really focused on what we’re doing here,” Lacob told Kawakami. “That’s the most important thing. .. but to answer your question, I don’t think they are for sale.”
But angels are sold. Angels owner Arte Moreno has begun considering the possibility of selling the team.
But if the A’s or the San Francisco Giants are going to the open market, a Bay Area MLB team would be ideal.
