Warriors guard Jamaichal Green recently revealed that it will be a problem this year after a wrist injury left him with a career-low shooting count last season with the Denver Nuggets.
Green said on NBC Sports Bay Area’s Kerith Burke and Monte Poole’s “Dubs Talk” show, “I was battling a minor wrist injury, so I had my ups and downs. “It’s very frustrating,” he said, following Golden State’s 129-117 victory over the Toronto Raptors at the Chase Center on Friday.
“Just getting out of that slump and starting to see them come in, it does a lot for my confidence.”
Green scored 10 points in 16 minutes on 3/5 shooting from the field and had one 3-pointer and six rebounds. He returned from last Friday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers after a month-long absence due to health and safety protocols and a foot infection, but he was quick to return despite his continuing wrist troubles. At his first press conference with the Warriors in August, Green told reporters he was looking forward to improving his shooting numbers this season with Golden State after dealing with a wrist injury last season.
“It’s all about rep and confidence,” Green said at the time. “As long as you have the rep, you’ll be fine. Last year was just a year of downshooting, just battling some things. It will come up.”
Green told Burke and Poole on Friday that surgery was the “last thing” he wanted and treated the discomfort with cortisone injections.
“I need rest to heal it, so right now I’m just playing and making it happen,” Green said.
