WARNER ROBINS, GA — The 16-year-old boxer from Warner Robins is preparing to represent the Southeast for a national title.

Boxing is a sport that is both mentally and physically committed.

“We start off by running two miles down the road, come back, come back and do some jump rope and ladder training. Gunther explained.

That wasn’t something Adi Gunter intended to stick to.

“It was really because my sister wanted to do it. I just tagged and I’ve been doing it ever since, so that’s how I got into it,” she said.

After two years of hard training and passion, Addie will be representing Region 3 at the Silver Gloves National Convention in Missouri.

“Of course there’s a lot of nerves in it, but once you’re in the ring and the bell rings, usually all the nerves are gone and it’s just like putting down everything I’ve been working on. I think I can do it. It really just fulfills my goals,” she explained.

The teenage boxer says he didn’t do it alone, thanks to his coach at Kingdom Boxing Gym in Warner Robins.

These coaches are proud of the work she and other coaches do at the gym.

George Hayes said, “Everyone at the gym is really giving their 100% effort and Addie is making the transition to these nationals not just at this gym, but on behalf of the entire region.

As she prepares to head to the Midwest, she has support from Central Georgia.

“It’s really cool that people can leave notes like, ‘I got this, Addie.

The national competition begins on February 8th.

Addie and her coach are trying to raise $1,250 for a trip to Missouri.
