San Ramon, California – A total of 112 coaches from 63 clubs completed the La Liga Formation Method Level 3 course held January 6-8 in San Ramon, California.
This was the 21st course to date in the LaLiga Coaching Development Series, a staple of the US Club Soccer/LaLiga partnership first formed in 2015 with the launch of Players First. A Madrid-based La Liga methodology expert led the course, explaining and demonstrating the development tactics, principles and philosophies used in the Spanish Academy.

The coaching series has four stages, starting at Level 3 (Introductory), progressing to Level 2 (Advanced), Level 1-US (Expert) and Level 1-Spain (Expert Immersion). This particular course is co-sponsored by NorCal Premier Soccer and currently hosts 6 He LaLiga Formation Methodology courses, including 3 Level 3, 2 Level 2 and 1 Level 1-US. A belief that coaching education should be accessible, affordable, and available on a regular basis.
Coaches were guided through a series of field, classroom and workshop sessions. These sessions are designed to encourage participants to revisit the club’s long-term curriculum and daily training sessions. LaLiga methodology expert Carlos Casal López (LaLiga football project coordinator) and he Saúl Vázquez Chas (senior football program specialist) supervised the course. The two LaLiga clinicians will head to Philadelphia for the 2023 United Soccer Coaches Convention, where US Club Soccer and La Liga will co-host two special sessions on January 11. Level 1 Spain course from 17-26 April in Madrid. Interested coaches must reserve a spot by January 16th.
Over 1,600 coaches from 450 clubs have been trained in the LaLiga methodology following the completion of the Level 3 course last weekend.
