Along Ken Hissner: Before we look at some of the undefeated prospects in Philadelphia and the region, let’s take a look at two of the undefeated Philadelphia boxers. First, WBC and WBO World Super Bantamweight Champion Steven “Cool Boy Steph” Fulton, 21-0 with eight stops.
Another world-ranked welterweight, Jaron “Boots” Ennis, was 29-0 with 27 stops. Ennis is scheduled to appear at his Showtime PPV on Jan. 7 in Washington, DC. He will face Ukraine’s Karen Chukhazian (21-1, 11 stops) in Germany’s outs.
So let’s take a look at the next undefeated boxer following in Fulton’s and Ennis’ footsteps.
On January 20th, Marshall Kaufman’s Kings Promotions will field a host of undefeated boxers from Philadelphia and the region in his boxing event on Showtime USA at the Wind Creek Event Center in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Let’s take a look at the people attending this event.
Super welterweight James Bernadine is 9-0-1 in six stops. His combined record against his 10 opponents is 63-40-4. Bernadine was born in Haiti and lives in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Bernadin was promoted by Kings promotion and in 2022 he was 4-0. His biggest win came in September when he beat Mexican Jairo ‘Doberman’ Lopez 27-16.
Bernadine will take on 10-15-2 Clay ‘3rd Degree’ Barnes in four stops from Ft. Worth, TX, 6 rounds.
Super-middleweight David Stevens, from Reading, Pennsylvania, is 11-0 with eight stops. His combined record against his 11 opponents is 82 wins, 102 losses and 4 losses. His biggest win came in December 2021 when he defeated South American Colombian Ronald “Savage” Montes 19-14-1.
Stevens makes eight stops from Sean “Silky” Hemphill, 14-0, New Orleans, Louisiana, eight rounds.
As an amateur, Stevens was a semi-finalist at the 2015 USA Junior Olympics. National Silver Gloves Champion (14-15) 2017 US National Youth (Under 19) Champion. 2018 Pan American Youth (under 19) gold medalist. 2018 World Youth (under 19 years old) advances to the quarterfinals.
Light heavyweight southpaw Atif Overton from Philadelphia is 7-0 in six stops. Overton said he was 4-0 in 2022. His combined record against his seven opponents is 72-43-2. His two biggest wins came in his 2022. In October, he stopped Michigan’s Christian Thomas 11-0.
Oberlton will face Fort-resident Russian Artem Brusov.Lauderdale, Florida
In the amateur division, Overton was a 2018 USA National finalist. In 2018, he was the National Golden Gloves Champion. In 2017, he was his USA National Semi-finalist. 2016 National Golden Gloves Champion. In 2016, he was a finalist at the USA Youth National. In 2015, he was his USA Youth National Semifinalist. In 2014, he was the Junior Olympic Nationalist Champion of the United States.
Super featherweight Julian Gonzalez is 8-0-1 in eight stops from Reading, Pennsylvania. Gonzalez was promoted from Kings Promotions and in 2022 he was 3-1. His biggest win came in March when he stopped Carlos “Batey” Padilla of South America Colombia 17-10-1. In April, Gonzalez drew 7-1-1 with Ivan Jimenez of Cuba.
Gonzalez defeated southpaw Rosalind Morales 9-0 and took two stops from Elwood City, Pennsylvania, over eight rounds.
Super welterweight Paul “The Punisher” Kroll, from Philadelphia, went 9-0-1 with six stops. Kroll is promoted by Kings Promotions. His opponents total record is his 50-29-5. In October 2020, he beat California’s rook his Santa Maria with his 11-1-1.
In November 2021, he beat Philadelphia’s Mark Dawson 9-0-1. In February 2022, he drew with the Texas Marquis his Taylor (12-1-1).
Kroll’s opponents will be announced over eight rounds.
In the amateur division, Kroll was a finalist in the 2015 USA National Golden Gloves. She was the 2015 Pennsylvania Golden Gloves champion.
Welterweight Tangier Teesley hails from Allentown, Pennsylvania and was promoted by Kings Promotions. Teasley said he was 4-0 in 2022.
Teesley will face Joe Zambrano (4-16-2) of Pearsonton, Texas in four rounds.
Another undefeated Philadelphia prospect is heavyweight Sonny “Bronco” Comte, who is 11-0 with nine stops. His combined record against his 11 opponents is 47-35-5. Conto said he was 3-0 in 2022. He is managed by his David McWater. In October, Comte held off James Bryant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, his 6-1 lead.
In the amateur division, Comte was a quarterfinalist in the 2017 National Golden Gloves. In 2018, he was a finalist at the National Golden Gloves.
Super lightweight southpaw Isaiah Johnson from Philadelphia is 6-0 in five stops. His opponents total record is his 31-54-4. His promoter is Rodney Rice of his RDR Promotions. He was 3-0 in 2022.
Johnson is scheduled to meet at The NAC in Newtown, Pennsylvania on March 4 with an opponent yet to be determined.
Lightweight Rashan Adams hails from Philadelphia and is 4-0 in three stops. His opponents total record is him 8-22. His promoter is Rodney Rice of RDR Promotions.
He is scheduled to take on Mexico’s Oscar Barajas 6-8-1 on March 4th at The NAC in Newtown, Pennsylvania.
Super bantamweight Romuel “Cuco” Cruz is 8-0-1 in three stops and comes from Philadelphia via Puerto Rico. His opponents total record is him 36-65-7.
