With veteran backup Teddy Bridgewater hampered by an injured finger in his throwing hand, the Dolphins plan Wednesday for rookie quarterback Skyler Thompson to start Sunday’s game in Orchard Park, N.Y. He didn’t rule out Bridgewater being unplayable.

The NFL and the NFL Players Association conducted a joint review of the case. The league and union also reviewed the handling of Tagovailoa’s recently diagnosed concussion and found it did not violate protocol. “At that point, team medical personnel appropriately evaluated Mr. Tagovailoa and placed him on a concussion protocol.”
McDaniel said Wednesday that Bridgewater is “still on the way back” from a finger injury.
