DENVER — — The Nuggets beat Minnesota 122-118 as Jamal Murray hit a go-ahead floater with 55.9 seconds remaining and Nikola Jokic broke Denver’s assist record with his 14th triple-double of the season. Timberwolves Wednesday night.
Murray scored 7 of 28 points in the fourth quarter and helped the Nuggets to a 15-game winning streak at home.
Jokic overcame foul trouble with 31 points, 13 assists and 11 rebounds. His two-time NBA MVP dominance has passed Alex his English for the most assists in team history. Jokic has 3,686 assists in 568 games, while English has 3,679 assists in 837 games in a Denver uniform.
With the Nuggets trailing 118-115, Murray hit a 3-pointer with 2:05 remaining to tie the game.
Bruce Brown finished with 16 points for the Denver team to play their second game in a row. Nuggets coach Michael Malone stayed on the NBA’s health and safety protocol for the second game in a row.David Adelman served as acting head coach.
Jaden McDaniels led seven Minnesota players in double digits with 18 points.
It was an eventful first quarter for Jokic, with a basket stolen on review (a shot clock violation) and an offensive foul revoked by a challenge. He still had 13 points in the period and five assists, including a full-length pass to Brown for a dunk.
“He’s got a heart like John Stockton in a seven-foot body,” said Adelman.

Timberwolves coach Chris Finch appreciates the easy-going demeanor of Tim Connery, president of basketball operations for the Timberwolves. Connery played a similar role in Denver, where he helped build the team to where it is today before leaving last spring.
“He always tells me to have fun. It’s simple, but it can be hard to maintain,” Finch said. “He’s always really positive.”
