Lan Carson was introduced Friday as the general manager of the Tennessee Titans. This is at least his 20-year life goal.
In the spring of 2003, when Carson was a running back at the University of Florida, he told his girlfriend (now his wife) that he wanted to eventually become the general manager of an NFL team.
Well, those dreams were a little too big for her, says Carton.
In fact, his career goals alone almost cost the couple their entire relationship.

“She later said she almost stopped dating me because she had never met anyone who lived in La La Land,” Carton recalled to reporters.
“But honey, today that dream came true and we are realizing the world we put in.”

Carson was undrafted out of Florida and appeared in nine NFL games with the Indianapolis Colts, but his front office career has been very successful.
Just two years after cutting his cleats, he joined the Atlanta Falcons as a professional scout. He then moved to the St. Louis Rams, where he served as director of player personnel for five years. He joined the San Francisco 49ers in his 2017 season and most recently served as director of player personnel.
The Titans were in playoff contention for most of the 2022 season.

However, they lost seven straight games to end the season and were knocked out of contention when the Jacksonville Jaguars won the AFC South in Week 18.
