FRISCO, Texas — The late Grant Wall will receive this year’s Colin Jose Media Award, which recognizes journalists who have made a lasting contribution to American football.
Wall died on December 10 at the age of 49 after collapsing while covering the World Cup quarter-final match between Argentina and the Netherlands in Lusail, Qatar.
Wall will be honored at the National Soccer Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Frisco, Texas on May 6, Hall said Wednesday. Landon Donovan, DaMarcus Beasley, Lauren Chaney Holiday and Kate Sobrero Markgraf, former U.S. women’s coach Jill Ellis and Steve Zungl will be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Wall covered soccer and college basketball for Sports Illustrated from 1996 to 2021 before launching his own website.
